It’s been a couple weeks since my last post, but we’ve been staying busy (or sick…but let’s go with busy). We took Rosemary to the doctor for her 4 month check up last Friday and she weighed 15lbs 14.5oz and was 25.5in! She’s getting so big!
We also got the go ahead to start trying solid foods. Apparently there were studies over the past couple years showing that food allergies were least likely in kids introduced to allergenic foods between 4 and 6 months. So despite my best efforts to keep Rosemary a little tiny baby forever, we gave her her first solid food yesterday. For the record, it was infant oatmeal cereal.
All in all, Rosemary seemed more interested in the spoon than the food. She was holding the spoon and putting it in her own mouth….and then spitting out the food. She didn’t seem to dislike the food, though – mostly like she wasn’t sure what to do with it or how to swallow it. Baby steps!
Eating food is a dirty business, and I’m suddenly realizing why people give their babies daily baths!
