We celebrated your birthday today, and it was so much fun! There is a photo of you smiling so big with your eyes closed, and grandma guessed that you were thinking “This is the best day of my life!”. It makes me almost want to happy cry thinking about how sweet that is, and how it feels like that might be true. The party was scheduled for 1-3, but it lasted past 4 because we were all having so much fun. I think you smiled the entire time!
Yesterday, we went to Serenbe to pick up your cake, so we stopped at their petting zoo/farm to see the animals and take a couple family photos. You really loved seeing all the animals!
For today’s party, we invited family and a few old friends with babies close in age. You loved all the baby company! It makes me excited to see you make friends in “preschool” next year. For the first hour of the party, you played and played – not even minding if I was in a different room! But don’t worry, I had my eye on you, little girl!
Then, we moved onto the smash cake. I was so excited for this. I was hopeful that you would dig into the cake, and you didn’t disappoint! You were a little tentative at first, but then you discovered the banana cake under all the frosting. I’m not sure how much you actually ate – I think you mostly just played! We got you to play a lot of your little games (peekaboo, giving kisses, patty cake), which really spread the icing around. You got icing EVERYWHERE! After the cake, we had to give you a quick bath before bringing you back out for presents!
We all had a great time! My favorite part was watching you enjoy yourself. I wish I could make every day the best day of your life, where you smile so big your eyes close shut. I know I can’t, but I want you to know that your dad and I will be here for you on your best and worst days. Rosemary, this was the best year of my life, and I am excited to see what next year brings!
