Reid is Two Months Old

Reid, I can barely believe you are two months old! Where has time gone? I am desperately holding onto your babyhood, and you are obliging to far. You are my little cuddle bug! You hate to be put down, and I hate to put you down, so it works out pretty well. We wouldn’t mind a little more uninterrupted sleep at night, but it’s sweet to know that you are often waking us up because you need snuggles.

I’m so thankful that you’ve been a good nurser. Like clockwork, you tend to eat every three hours. We’ll think that only an hour has past since I last fed you, but I’ll check the clock when you start crying and it’s somehow exactly three hours! It’s especially disorienting at night. Chris and I will both wake up and be so confused about whether you just fell asleep or whether it’s time to feed you again. I do love the night snuggles, but I am scared of falling asleep while feeding you!

You smiled for the first time this month! I’m pretty sure you smiled at dad first, but you smiled at us both around the same time, so who really knows. You definitely smile at Chris more – you think it’s hilarious when he boops your nose! When you get in a smiley mood, you also “talk” a lot. You mostly just say “guh guh,” but it’s clear that you think you’re saying something and that you want to interact with us. Your little voice and smile melt my heart!

Our family has been a lot healthier this past month, so we’ve been able to get out and explore a little more. We went to Stone Mountain a few days ago and rode the Skyride up to the top. I carried you in the baby bjorn, so you didn’t end up in the photos, but you were there! You’ve also gone on walks around the neighborhood with us and watched Rosemary play at the park! It’s been nice to get a little fresh air.

During the day, you mostly chill on one of our chests. You still snooze most of the time, but when you’re awake, you still love to cuddle. We’ve been pushing the paci on you since 1) it was soothing for Rosemary while she was sleep training and 2) it’s something that we can eventually take away from you when you’re older. You’re definitely fighting it, though. You really want to suck on your hand — not necessarily your thumb or any particular finger, but your balled up fist. We’ll see what ends up happening.

Your eyes are still blue at this point, but they are a dark blue, so I don’t know if it’ll last. I’m not really sure who you look most like. I didn’t think you looked much like Rosemary until I compared your two month photo with Rosemary’s. We haven’t heard many comparisons, but people tend to think you look more like me. One thing is for sure – you are a little cutie!

Your relationship with Rosemary is still so sweet. She loves to hold you and give you kisses. Yesterday, during nap time, she started crying when she heard you crying in a different room. When I went to check on her, she responded “yes” when I asked if she was worried about you. Chris had to bring you into her room so she could see you were okay! I hope that y’all remain great friends and always look out for each other.

You are such a sweetheart, and we feel so blessed to have you in our lives. We love you so much!
