Reid is 11 Months!

I’m a week late writing your 11 month post because we have been on your first family vacation! We went to Arizona, and you were an angel the whole time. You napped for an hour or so during both flights and went with the flow during all of our activities. We were a little tight on space in the hotel, so you had to sleep in a crib in the closet, ha! You didn’t sleep great, but we were pretty quick to get you out of your crib so you wouldn’t wake up Rosemary, who was sleeping about 10 feet away. You loved playing on the balcony and watching the ducks near our room with Rosemary. We took you to Sedona and you liked trying to put the rocks in your mouth. Other than that, you were happy to just be carried along and spend time with the family!

You’ve been a happy little guy this month. You’ve enjoyed trying the few new foods we’ve introduced to you, and I am thankful to say that did great with all of them. I’m always a nervous wreck when we give you a new food, but we are all so happy when it goes well. I pray every day for continued success and that you outgrow these allergies. In the meantime, we are working so hard to keep you safe, but also allow you to have a normal life. This month, I gave you cake as one of your first foods so we could work towards you being able to have a smash cake!

One of your biggest successes this month has been starting to sleep through the night. Honestly, it kind of happened because we were just. so. exhausted. One night, you were crying in bed and I turned off the noise with the intention of waking back up in a minute and accidentally fell asleep for two hours. By the time I woke up, you had been sleeping for about 30 minutes. I felt awful, but was so proud of you for falling back asleep on your own. The next night when you woke up, I turned off the noise and set a 15 minute alarm. After 15 minutes, I checked on you via video monitor to make sure you were ok, and just kept resetting the alarm with the intention of getting you if you cried for an hour and a half. You fell asleep after an hour. After a couple days of this, you had outgrown the middle of the night waking. You typically wake up around 5AM, but that’s a lot better than 1+ middle of the night wakings!

You’ve become really playful this month. You love to follow Rosemary around and try to play with her. You LOVE to put things in boxes. I joke that for Christmas we’ll give you toys, and for your birthday, we’ll give you the boxes to those toys. You’re always putting your pacis in Rosemary’s boots and giggle to yourself with pride. Recently, you’ve even started doing all the motions to Pattycake and waving on command.

You also got your first haircut! I debated for so long because I love your cute baby hair, but it was getting a little long over your ears and on your neck, so we went for it. Somehow you look even more babylike with the haircut! It’s so adorable! You loved getting your hair cut because you got to sit in a firetruck chair with a bell.

For Thanksgiving, we went to Chris’s parent’s house, like we usually do. Unfortunately, we didn’t give you any of the Thanksgiving food, but you got to eat the cake that I made you and lots of puffs, so you didn’t mind. After dinner, we went up to the golf course and you liked putting a golf ball in the hole. At the end of the night, after hours of mustering the courage, you slowly reached out your arm, quickly touched Juneau on the ear, and immediately retracted your arm. We were all so proud of your bravery, haha!

Reid, I can’t even put into words how precious you are to us. I feel like we were given this sweet little gift in the form of a pudgy, giggly baby. You are constantly smiling and giving us hugs. You’re happy to just be around us and give us cuddles. Sometimes you see me across the room or down the hallways and crawl-sprint towards me. I hope I never forget how you try to crawl up on me whenever you can. I wish I could keep you my baby forever, but we love watching you grow and learn. We love you so much and are so proud of you!
