Reid, you turned 14 months old this week, but you’re still my sweet little baby.
First things first, my favorite new thing this month is that you learned to smack your lips together when you want a kiss. You’ll smack your lips and lean your head towards us for a kiss. If we are holding you, you’ll wrap your tiny arms around our neck and squeeze really tightly. It’s my absolute favorite. Sometimes you’ll do it when you see us for the first time in a while, but sometimes you’ll just start smacking your lips for a kiss in the middle of a meal or while you’re playing. I hope you keep doing this for a long time.
Another favorite thing that you’ve started doing is flapping your hands when you want something. You’ll reach your arms out as far as they can and flap your hands and grunt. You are clearly trying to talk! Speaking of which, you love to talk. You definitely say dada and sometimes mama. We think you say “Woah!” when you get excited. Other than that, just lots of made up little words. Rosemary loves to repeat what you say back to you.
We’ve continued to introduce new foods, and you’re doing great! We’re trying to introduce different textures so you learn to chew and pick up different foods, and you are loving it. Just today, you ate 3 Chick-Fil-A grilled nuggets and a tortilla with nut butter and bananas. You love to eat! You have a cup of cheerios permanently affixed to your hand (which has led to cheerio dust all over every surface of our house).
Over the past few days, you’ve actually started to sleep until about 6:30AM. You had been waking up around 4 for a couple months and it was exhausting! You’ve even been napping in your crib some days. You’re becoming such a big boy!
The weather has been pretty crummy this month, so we’ve spent a lot of time inside. We all got a stomach bug, which took us out for an entire week too. We had a sweet little Valentine’s day, though, with lots of balloons. I gave you a little boy baby doll that we call Baby Daniel. You still mostly like to play with whatever Rosemary is playing with, though. I think you seem really advanced because you’re always watching her play. Today she let you play with her ice cream cart, and you managed to use her scoop to put ice cream on a cone!

We all love you so much, baby Reid (we still call you “Baby” or “Baby Reid” 90% of the time). I couldn’t have hand-picked a sweeter baby. You are happy to just be a part of the family, and we are happy you are part of ours! We love you so so much!
