Hi, baby! Guess who’s still our best boy? You!
We all love talking to you these days, and you love “talking” back. You’ve actually been picking up a few words lately. Just today, you wanted to get down off my lap, so I jokingly said “Ok, bye!” and you stopped, waved at me and said “Bah!”. Rosemary was so excited to hear you say something. She kept saying “he said bye!”. We had you say bye half a dozen times. You refused to do it on video though. Some other words you say are “yeah” (shockingly, used correctly when we ask you a question), “mama”, “dada”, “vroom” (while playing with a car toy), and “woof woof”. You also think you’re talking to us a lot when you’re not saying real words. You mostly just shout “da! da!” at the top of your lungs. Sometimes we think you are trying to sing.
We recently moved your car seat to the middle seat so you could sit next to Rosemary. You’ve both been having a blast. You really like to hold hands while I’m driving, which is just the most precious thing ever. You have little games you play together (like peekaboo and taking turns stomping your feet). On a good day, you can even get Rosemary to share some snacks with you.
We’ve been trying to let you walk around a little more when we go out. Your biggest barrier for walking is how well you crawl. If you want to get somewhere fast, you don’t want to deal with walking…you just get down a sprint-crawl over. I think you’re starting to want to walk a little more, though, so you can carry things with you. You’re getting there, so we’re confident that it’s going to happen soon! I’ll be happy when your hands aren’t constantly on the floor.
You’re getting closer and closer to toddlerhood, and we are starting to see glimpses of it. When you don’t get your way, you will sometimes throw your body on the ground and flail your arms and legs. Most of the time, your tantrums are because we couldn’t immediately pick you up (for example, yesterday I had to wash my hands after fixing a toilet) or didn’t give you the food you wanted. Honestly, it’s mostly cute!

Reid, I can’t wait to see who you’re going to be. You’re so kind and snuggly. I think you’re so special and know you’re going to do something great with your life. But no matter what, I know you’re going to be loved. We couldn’t love you any more if we tried!
